Metal railing can be either steel of aluminum. We do not use steel since it tends to rust especially in our Orange County area. The rust can occur even if it is painted since moisture can get to the inside and attack the metal. The aluminum does not rust and if the finish is scratched it forms aluminum oxide which is a protective coating for the metal. All of our aluminum comes with a lifetime warranty and we import it from Michigan from the Elite Fence company.
